2014 Inaugural Ann Richards Dinner

On April 26, 2014 the Dallas World Aquarium played host to the Inaugural Ann Richards Dinner, paying tribute to her hard fought battle as a woman to become the Governor of Texas. The dinner, hosted by the Texas Democratic Party, served as a fundraiser for the campaign to elect Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte as the next Governor and Lt. Governor of Texas.

Dallas County Young Democrats had several members in attendance on behalf not only ourselves, but the Texas Young Democrats. State Senator Kirk Watson of Austin, Texas was the master of ceremonies followed by speeches from State Senator Royce West, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, State Representative Celia Israel, the infamous Jim Hightower and even a special video message from Ann’s own daughter, Cecile Richards. The highlight of the evening was the special guest speaker Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN), who became the first woman in her state to be elected to the Senate.
