The Position Statements of the Dallas County Young Democrats
Position statements are written by members of the Dallas County Young Democrats Board of Directors, represent the consensus or majority opinion of the DCYD Board on the issue at hand, and have received final approval by members present at a club meeting, and can be considered the corporate opinion of the Dallas County Young Democrats.
Position Statement in Opposition to the Proposed Texas Constitutional Amendment to Ban Gay Marriage. On April 12, 2005, the Dallas County Young Democrats voted to approve this position statement opposing the Texas Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage presently before the Texas legislature.
Position Statement in Opposition to the Blackwood Amendment for a Strong Dallas Mayor. On April 12, 2005, the Dallas County Young Democrats voted to approve this position statement opposing the "strong mayor" initiative that will be on the May 7, 2005, Dallas municipal election ballot.
Position Statement in Support of House Bill 326. On March 8, 2005, the Dallas County Young Democrats voted to approve this policy position and send it, in letter form, to Texas State Representatives Lon Burman, Jessica Farr, Abel Herrero and Dora Olivo. The letter requests that the representatives support House Bill 326 (Senate Bill 172), which closes loopholes regarding Texas's animal cruelty statute.
