Last night we witnessed history, but more than that we took part. Young people voted over 60% for President-Elect Barack Obama. We worked hard to mobilize and engage young people all over the country and it has paid off. We are one step closer to building a solid bloc of voters for Democrats.
Please visit
www.dallasdemocrats.org for complete election results.
Thank you for all your hard work and countless hours of volunteer time. We have the promise of hope and change in this country. It will be up to us to continue the work that has been started.
Join us at our next General Meeting.

A New Project from the Young Democrats of America
With record-breaking turnout across the map, young people have made this the year of the Young Voter Revolution. What's now clear is that young people are a sizable and active voting bloc, and, even more, they are voting overwhelmingly for Democrats. Young Democrats of America (YDA) is launching the whYDA project to give voice to this movement. Young people are making themselves heard at the polls, and now they have a place to do so online, as well. We're asking a simple question: Why are you voting for Democrats? Users submit videos and written testimonials to the site to be shared with the world. It's an easy process with potentially dramatic effects: We are growing the Young Voter Revolution.
Our Goals
* To bring together dedicated young people across the country.
* To attract voters and members to engage in the political process.
* To get young people learning about the Democratic agenda from each other.
* To spread the Democratic values, agenda, and vision person
to-person.
* To educate young voters about the scope of problems that affect the country.
* To empower organizers with materials and information to motivate people in their communities.
Now it's your turn. Get involved. Submit a video or tell your story. whYDA is yours. Visit

Obama - Biden '08!
Posted August 23, 2008
By Juan Ayala
Today Senator Barack Obama has announced that he has chosen fellow Senator Joe Biden of Delaware to be our nominee for Vice President of the United States.
We are excited to hear this announcement and look forward to a convention that will help our party unite behind this winning ticket. Senator Biden first joined the Senate as a Young Democrat at the age of 30. He has served his state and country with distinction and he will be a key asset as Senator Obama brings his agenda of change to Washington.
Please visit our campaign website, www.your8in08.com, and commit to doing your part to bring about the change that our nation truly needs.

DCYD Remembers Jim Mattox
Former Attorney General Jim Mattox, the colorful one-time Dallas congressman who was part of a team of Democratic progressives that dominated Texas politics in the 1980s and early 1990s, has died at the age of 65.
Mattox attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, worked his way through the Baylor School of Business and earned a law degree from SMU.
Mattox was elected to the 5th Congressional District in 1976, 10 years after serving as an intern in the office of then-Congressman Earle Cabell.
He was elected Texas attorney general in 1982, the same year Ann Richards, Mark White and Garry Mauro also won statewide offices.
He is survived by his wife Marta and their two children, Jim and Janet, known as Sissi, as well as his sister, Janice, and brother, Jerry, both of Dallas.
We at DCYD are grateful for Jim's service and wish to send our deepest condolences to his family and many friends.

Join The Impact Rally
Saturday November, 15, 2008
Starting at 12:30 PM
Dallas City Hall
1500 Marilla St.
Dallas, TX 75201
This Saturday in communities all over the United States people will come together in support for full equality for all citizens of this country.
On an election day that was for the most part a joyous occasion for our country four states passed legislation that targeted the LGBT community. We should not sit idly by while any group is denied their full rights as Americans.
Dallas will be one of the cities where demonstrations in support of full equality will be held. If you can attend this rally please do and wear your DCYD t-shirt if you have one.
